Sometimes Kickstarters go badly wrong. For us as retail backers. The games arrive eighteen months later than the retail copies - for which we paid a premium. Often its because there are extra KS bits they have to cast and include.
We loved Flying Frog ever since we first met them at GenCon when they were releasing Last Night on Earth. We couldn't believe folks with no previous industry experience could have made such a great game - great art, great miniatures, great component quality. But Kickstarter can be a curse to a company with such an attention to detail and a desire to pack even more into everything they do. Because it just ships later and later.
Still, this is the same great gameplay as Shadows of Brimstone, but now with added samurai and ninja. Like a boardgame version of Onimusha, full of flavour and menace and adventure. Highly recommended despite the hiccups - and includes the KS Sumo and Daimyo figures, and the Temple of Shadows expansion.
