Its not all table booking, organised play and tournaments at Fan Boy Three - we also run - or ran - events. These may be as simple as a demo session or a learn to play activity.
This is the 'I'm going to be in town, what's going on? page.
It's likely that these are the first things to emerge after the COVID-19 lockdown is over.
Boardgame demos are small and self contained.
Learn to Play sessions for roleplay games are usually an hour, and cover the basics.
Games like Magic, Yugioh and Pokemon always have demo activity on any given organised play night - there will always be somebody here to teach you how to play. That way, once you know how to play you can jump right in and actually play. For reals.
Fan Boy Three also runs a monthly session devoted to autism support in conjunction with A Spectrum of Possibilities.
And we run our own mental health support group, Roll Through It. Life is better when you are in a physical space, gaming with others - your body is producing dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin - happiness neurotransmitters.
And that's what the Fan Boy Three experience is all about - happiness.
You might be surprised at some of the things we will offer post lockdown. I'm concerned that a lot of traditional social spaces may have to close, and its my intention to pick up the daytime slack as much as possible. Watch this space.
(though not literally - because scientists are telling me it could be a year!)
